Madam Johara asked we to make a synopsis and simple proposal about our project and register it on the FYP UniKL BMI website.

WEEK 2

Title: Selecting a supervisor

 Date: 10/10/2016 (Monday)

I decided to looking for lecturers that are still available to be the supervisor for FYP. I chose Madam Johara bte Ghazali, my lecturer subject in “Programming” at semester 1 because she is a good teacher and can guided me to complete my project.

Madam Johara is the one lecture of Section of the Electronic Engineering Technology Section. 

I showed Madam Johara the ideas and titles  that i think from week 1 . I am interested in one of the title which is “ GSM based switch control”. 

Madam Johara  suggested for me to do some research first before confirming to take the title.

WEEK1

Title: FINAL YEAR PROJECT Briefing

The first week basically is about the briefing of the Final Year Project. The briefing was conducted in Gemilang Hall and the attendance of all the student that are taking the FYP 1 was compulsory.

 Date: 5thOctober 2016 (Wednesday)

Venue: TTL2

Time: –FYP 1 Briefing : 2.15pm to 3.15pm.

          –FYP Diploma Briefing: 3.15pm to 4.30pm.

  

In the briefing, the FYP committees have briefed us about :

·         Introduction

·         Objectives

·         Credits and duration

·         Scope of projects

·         Title selection

·         Project Assessment

·         Presentation day

·         Submission date of project

The students were required to carefully select the title of the project. For diploma students, the title must reflect the capability and knowledge of a degree student. Students may select the titles that are offered by lecturers (FYP supervisors) or come out with own ideas.

Title: Surveying Topics

As was briefed, students may choose the titles that are offered by lecturers (FYP supervisors) or come out with own ideas. After doing some thinking, I decided to choose the titles for the fyp from my own ideas.

The titles that are choose can be seen at the FYP website which is http://fyp.bmi.unikl.edu.my/. I read through the list of the titles and each synopsis of the project so that I can understand the requirement and criteria needed to complete the project.

Introduction

      Assalammualaikum W.H.B. First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Zaid Bin Mohamed Hafadzzuddin. I'm creating this blog because as you'll can see the title of this blog is about my final year project for my diploma that i take at UNIKL BMI. So i and my teammate Muhammad Amier Afiq Bin Mat Isa  will give an update for our FYP progression at least once a week for all 13 week given.  Our title that we've choose for our FYP is GSM based Switch Control. Why we decide to choose this project? Mobile phone is a revolutionary invention of the century. It was primarily designed for making and receiving calls & text messages, but it has become the whole world after the Smart phone comes into the picture. In this project we are building a home automation system by using arduino based on GSM module, where one can control the home appliances, using the simple GSM based phone, just by sending SMS through his phone.

 For me this project is the medium that i can use to applied all my knowledge that i have learn during my study.
